block’s writer

“You are staring at a screen, blank screen, a screen that will make you write a (blog) post. You know that you hope someone will read it,but you can’t be sure. But it doesn’t matter, because you will be writing.”

Have you seen the movie Inception? If not, then you might not understand the above statement πŸ˜† (like you understood the movie easily πŸ˜› ). Anyway, here I am with white badge on my forehead with “Writer’s block” written in gold bold letters. I don’t even know what to write after this line. πŸ™‚ How miserable one can get?

Looks like I have to do Inception on myself. But will it work? They say true inspiration is impossible to fake. Well, there are a lot of fake things out there, this is just my own blog. Why can’t I just write whatever crap that comes to my mind? Hmmm , that is an interesting question. But then what is use of writing stupid stuff like this? Just to fill pages? I seriously hope no one is reading this because they are gonna hit me after they finish reading! (if they ever survive πŸ˜€ ). Things can’t get more serious than this. A blogger writing anything that comes to his mind at the time he is writing. But that is how things work around here, right? I mean, people (bloggers) write what they think about things (most of the time) on their blogs and readers read it (and comment sometimes πŸ˜‰ ). But, there is a difference. Bloggers are supposed to write interesting stuff and not just fill their pages with random text like this. Though there is no rule about it, one should be mindful of reader’s patience (which he/she might have run out on already).

So all said (and written), I will try to stick to my Post a Week 2011 resolution. I just need some direction. So if anyone has any ideas that might give me something to write on, I will be very very very thankful for it πŸ™‚

Use TAGS efficiently to increase your Blog visibility

Every time you write a tutorial or a movie review or a funny story or a serious issue, you want your post to be read. And you want your post to be higher in search engine results. So you use links, good content, pictures, references, and tags.

The Tags. If you don’t know what a Tag is and why people use it, see this entry in Support. (Honestly speaking, if you read all the support section on, you don’t need to read rest of this post)

A tag helps indexing your post in search databases and WordPress uses tags to keep track of things/topics in the(ir) Blog World. The tags on WP are similar to “labels” on

So whenever one thinks he/she has written a good post, he/she tries to insert as many tags as possible. And believe me, that’s not a good idea. Not in the terms of SEO on WP. (SEO= Search Engine Optimization)

Why using lots of tags is not a good idea? Read this.

The Global Tag Listings at aggregate all published posts attached to any particular tag or category.

If you want your post or blog to be listed in Global List, which is one of the best way to get readers, you have to use tags and categories efficiently.

Few tips:

=> Use specific tags. Keep them limited but as relative as possible.

=> Create and use categories. Using them keeps your blog organized.

=> Stop misusing tags. If you try using a famous tag on a post on totally different topic, that may produce unwanted results. Most probably, your post will be blacklisted or marked or flagged or something like that for misuse of tags.

Anyway, its your choice. Some bloggers are never interested in SEO or page rank or reader count. If you are one of them, then don’t bother and do whatever you like with your blog. πŸ™‚
There is no harm in using lots of tags. No one is going to punish you for using your own blog in your own way πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Work (Balance) Blogging

Blogging is good. Good in many ways. Good if you know how to manage it.

Many of the bloggers blog from work. Some of them do it because they can spare time for it and some because they don’t have computers at home (probably because they live in rented flats or can’t afford a laptop yet πŸ˜‰ ).

Few bloggers are full-time bloggers. They are either retired individuals or the blogging earns their living.

Now, for others, i.e. spare-time bloggers, I have a question.

How do you manage the balance between work and blogging?

I am asking this question because I forced a blogging break on myself just to concentrate on some important things. I was unable to balance these two things properly and ended up trashing one of them (blogging of course).

What happens is, as you keep blogging, you get new readers. Most of them are bloggers and they do write interesting things. So you go read, comment and find more people and make friends etc.

Now, here is a realistic example. I know quite a few bloggers now. And I like to read their blogs. Lets say I like 20 blogs. Three or Four of them write nearly daily. Seven ot Eight write thrice a week. Some of them write irregularly and some of them write stories and stuff (I know 3-4 short story writers).

Approximately, I get around 15 new posts every day in my RSS Reader. Even if I don’t have to read all of them, still 12 posts are there. And if I am busy and miss opening Reader for one day, the count reaches to 20. Then it increases gradually in next few days. And one does not read only blogs. There are other sites and news and many things. So gradually it becomes an overloaded truck.

Now a post of approx 250 words takes some time reading if its on some good subject. There are references to other sources (if you bother to read) and then time to understand the subject. Then if there are already few comments there it adds more time as we read them too.

I am not finding an excuse for not reading or writing or commenting. Its just I find it very difficult to manage all friends and their blogs and your own blog at same time.

At there are some people who comment only if you comment on their blogs. But they are very few.

And there are some people who are always very busy but still comment on my posts even I post after a decade. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I am leaving this post halfway as I think you have got my point.

I just want to know how people manage their time. Mostly the people who use net from workplace (like me).

I wanted to make this post much like Nita’s any statistics and facts post. But then its me!! If I started writing very good posts here, then how can I live up to my reputation of confused blogger??Β  πŸ˜€Β  No. its not an award, its what I think I am. Confused like this post.Β  πŸ˜€

WordPress 2.7 Hurray!!!!

The brand new WordPress 2.7

WoW Wow WoW

O.o Β  WoWΒ  o.O

That was my reaction to the new interface of WP 2.7.

Its cool, simple, well organized, with new features and as usual easy on eyes.

I can go in details of it but don’t have much time to blahΒ  blah, lots of work pending with two one and half hour meetings.

P.S> What do you think about new WordPress (2.7) Dashboard?
