Marathi Movies:

1. Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi (рдЕрд╢реА рд╣реА рдмрдирд╡рд╛ рдмрдирд╡реА)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267277/

Some stills from the movie: http://www.marathimirchi.com/marathi/categories.php?cat_id=24

Story about four bachelors who need a place to live and so are forced to show themselves as married couples, a condition set by the landlady, two of them disguise as wives of other two. Best Marathi comedy movie so far. Stars Sachin Pilgaonkar, Lakshmikant Berde and Ashok Saraf. No movie can reach heights of this one in Marathi minds (or so I think) ЁЯЩВ

2. Natrang (рдирдЯрд░рдВрдЧ)

This is a story of a poor guy who starts a theater troupe (locally known as Tamasha) and plays the role of Nachya. Based on book with same title from well-known writer Anand Yadav.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1590129/

3. Matichya Chuli (рдорд╛рддреАрдЪреНрдпрд╛ рдЪреБрд▓реА)

A quote from director of movie Mahesh Manjarekar:

”The movie centers on a traditional Maharashtrian household and has been shot in Pune. It is based on the age-old premise of the mother-in-law/daughter-in-law tussles; it is a series of happenings in a family that each one of us can identify with. It says a lot without hard selling or aggressiveness…as you laugh, you realise your eyes have moistened because of a very subtle message and simple everyday emotions”.

4. Harishchandrachi Factory (рд╣рд░рд┐рд╢реНрдЪрдВрджреНрд░рд╛рдЪреА рдлреЕрдХреНрдЯрд░реА, “Harishchandra’s Factory”)

If you are a true Indian movie fan, you will know who Dadasaheb Phalke is (Father of Indian cinema). The film is the story about the beginning of the Indian film industry, set in 1913. In September 2009, it was selected as India’s official entry to Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film Category, making it the second film, after Shwaas (2004), in Marathi cinema to receive this honor.

Rock On !!! It simplly superb : Movie Review

19

Rock On!!!

Must Watch… In Theater!!

Yes. Its a must watch movie. And preferably in theater if you like to enjoy music. If you re in Pune, try Adlabs Gold.
After Taare Zameen Par, this is the first Hindi movie I watched and I don’t feel like criticizing on anything. Even no movie is perfect in all senses, this is one which we can add to exception list.

I will keep the review simple.

Rock On, is a story of friends, who form a band named Magik. The story is only about them and it didn’t loose focus till the very end. They enjoy life, they split and somehow they reunite. Sounds old formula? Well, it is. But as I already said, add this movie to exceptions. Magic of movie is its music. The climax of movie is a song, a long one, and I must say, its awesome.

Rock On!!!

Rock On!!!

Movie keeps you on your seat from start and it not at all get boring even for a minute. Or so I did feel.
I can do with a good long description but I don’t want to spoil the fun of people who haven’t seen it.

The best thing about Rock On is its simplicity. Story don’t have too much turns and bends and twists. Its straight and predictable (only if you have that annoying habit). It has convincing and NO OMG WTF type turns. Its more like Dil Chahta Hai. May be this one is going to be another Dil Chahta Hai, i.e. all time favorite.

Okay. May be few people can find it not that interesting as I did (most probably people who think like pro critics), but for sure its fully enjoyable experience.

Voice of Farhan Akhtar is cool. It different!!!

I give this movie FULL marks.

and well earned 4 and Half stars.

Rock On!!

Different Things : Two scenes I liked in Sarkar Raj

12
Warning: Spoilers!!! Read at your own risk.
After posting a review of Sarkar Raj movie, I felt like I missed some points I wanted to write. I always do this. Its my bad habit to forget things once marked to write about. Coincidence is today I found Nikhil is also facing same problem ЁЯША
Let it be. So there are two scenes and many dialogs I liked in Sarkar Raj. I will make an Audible Audio Collection of handpicked dialogs from Sarkar and Sarkar Raj soon. But till then we have to write.
First Scene which impressed me includes Abhishek Bachchan who plays Shankar Nangare on film.
The scene is something like this: Shankar is traveling through a village which is protesting against him and his plans to erect a plant on the place of village. Shankar’s car is stopped by protesters and they start shouting different slogans against him. He silently and sadly listens them while suddenly someone in crowd shouts “Subhash Nangare is thief”. Next moment we find Shankar bursting out of his car with full of anger (Subhash Nangare his father). The crowd ceases silent with a gasp and Shankar shouts at them,” Who called that line? Tell me! Who shouted it?”, The crowd remains silent and afraid of speaking anything. He shouts again, “What thief? Tell me face to face what he has theft?” …….. the silence continues and he angrily returns to his car as no one dares to move a muscle in front of him. He becomes very upset………
Surely, director RGV had this in his mind from the moment he thought of sequel. Some incidents in movie before this shot create a little arrogant image of Shankar in our mind. Somewhere inside we think if this boy has lost his respect or what? And there comes a point where he gets very angry and first time ever threatens public. Every son in this world would do this for his father for sure. But watching incident like this happen (at least on screen) after many months (may be years) made me to recall some old memories from childhood.

A father is always subject of pride to his children. Not a single word against him is tolerated by any son. (Well, exceptions are everywhere though rare).

Second scene I liked is totally different than first and there is not emotional value in it. Its just a very violent scene.
Somji (the leader of protesters) is kidnapped by some people and Chandar (one of Shankar’s right hands, yes he has more) finds out about his location. Shankar accompanied by two of his hands ЁЯША attacks the farmhouse where Somji is hidden by kidnappers. Shankar creates fire (plz don’t ask how) and distracts the security around building. The smoke spreads everywhere like fog and it becomes very difficult to see around. Shankar and his mates walk through smoke, mates kill people with nothing(?) may be with little guns and Shankar picks up a spade (normally used for fighting and originally made for gardening) and starts hitting anyone who comes in way. They approach the building and he keeps hitting every person in range. Other two mates pick long guns (AK 47) and start shooting remaining. They finally find out Somji and Shankar empties his revolver in villains body. (Villain previously killed Shankar’s wife).
So, whats so special in this scene? If you have seen this in a good big theater, then you will know the effect of the scene. When Shankar hits the guys in front of him, it seems so real that we get scared without any reason. Shankar and his mates walk through the smoke and field which reminded me walking of Dinasours in empty grass field. ЁЯШЫ Scene is very violent but at same time its so realistic. At least I found attacking sequence very impressive.
I told you that second scene is not much important but still I liked it. ЁЯША
Hope I get the movie DVD soon so I can extract the dialogs from it. ЁЯШЫ
Cheers
