Yes, we went to watch a horror movie.. And we were horrified, not by the scenes or gross zombies or anything, but by the terrible movie making. It looked like a video game, had video game-ish characters. Only thing that did not match with video games was this movie had no story. Believe me, no story. I can not even spoil the movie for you. There is nothing to spoil.

So anybody planning to watch this movie, please refrain. A sincere request. You have been warned.

The Three Musketeers : Movie Review

Its been really long time since I went to a movie theater. Nothing after Harry Potter and DH. As there were no noticeable movies in last few months, when I decided not to expect much from The Three Musketeers. And I was surprised. First reaction when after coming  out of theater was “Well, that was cool”.

(Briefest) Summary: (No Spoilers)

The three musketeers, after having their time of glory, are now living like other common people. But the new kid, who wants to be a Musketeer himself, bring action back in their lives. Some villains (guess who) cook a plot to turn over the kingdom and get rid of teenage amateur King. And it comes down to the Three (four, actually) musketeers to stop this from happening.

The movie is in 3D. Except for few scenes, 3D was (literally) a headache. There is not a single boring moment, and things keep happening. Movie keeps its constant pace and neither slows down nor speeds up suddenly. Use of bright vivid colors is awesome. I was getting bored with dark dull colors so far. But you will be amazed by colors Orlando Bloom wears and manages to look regal all the time. 😉 Director and writers have done a good job of creating a simple but interesting story (plus leaving a loose end for possibility of a sequel). Some of the scenes were extraordinary.

I would suggest watching this movie in theater but preferably NOT in 3D. I don’t know if it was just me, but 3D does not show the colors as good as normal. I am sure you will not regret watching the four musketeers in action 😉

The movie Schindler’s List is one of the great movies which can be found on every ‘must see’ list on the internet. And I do agree with it. If you are a movies fan, or you just like to watch good movies occasionally, then you should surely watch Schindler’s List.

This movie is a true story of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman, who initially only cared about making money, and later saved nearly 1100 Jews from being killed or tortured till death during World War II.

The plot of movie is straightforward and sticks to the true story. Oskar Schindler owned a factory where he used to have Jewish people as labors. He saw the way Jews were treated by Nazis and started helping them. His factory became a refuge for Jews. He spent all money he can to protect his factory and the people who worked there. Finally he managed to move nearly 1100 Jews to Brněnec (German: Brünnlitz) (currently in Czech Republic) and save them till the war was over.

 

The actor Liam Neeson plays role of Oskar Schindler and Ben Kingsley plays Oskar’s  right hand and accountant Itzhak Stern. Both are great actors and these characters in movie can be counted as one of the best roles of their life. Director Steven Spielberg has done a great job and every actor has been at his best.

The movie has a lot of scenes where horrifying treatment of Jews is shown. I recommend not to watch this movie with kids.

I am making my own list of Must Watch movies and this movie is surely on the list.

Movie Review : Shrek Forever and After 3D

Plot: ****No Spoilers****

Shrek, the ogier is happily married and has 3 children. But somehow he lands himself in a situation which will finish everything he has ever known. Even his existence. The villain make him sign a contract which allows him to do whatever he wants for one day. In return, he just needs to give one day of his life to the villain. But this changes his life.  Now Shrek  finds his friends Donkey and Puss, then under the leadership of his wife Fiona, leads the army of Ogiers to fight for his existence.

My Review:

Simple yet excellently directed animation movie. Not much of 3D experience. I think 3D was not even necessary. There is no doubt about quality of graphics and animation. Everything is simply superb. Unlike 3rd movie, this one actually makes you laugh at many places. Story is nice and movie is well paced.

If you haven’t seen it yet, go for it. And don’t forget to visit MacD for Shrek Meal and get your favorite character toy. I got the Donkey. And yes, I am still a kid  😀

Movie Review: Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time is base on video game of same name. After other game base movies like “the sweet boring” Hitman and “never watch again” Max Payne, I was not expecting much from this movie.

Plot: (***NO SPOILERS***)

Dastan, the Prince of Persia, helps his brother to win the city of Almut and accidentally finds a dagger called as Dagger of Time. The dagger gives its owner the ability to go back in time and change things (for good hopefully 😛 ). So Dastan has the dagger and the Princess of Almat, Tamina, who is the guardian of the dagger, tries her best to get hands on it.

Dastan is fooled in to giving poisoned gift to his father and then everyone suddenly becomes his enemy. Now Dastan tries to prove his innocence with help of Princess Tamina who has her own plans. He eventually finds the real killer of his father and also discovers the truth behind the dagger. In the end, the destiny of whole world is in Dastans hand.

My Review:

I did not watch this movie in 3D but I am sure the special effects are excellent (its Disney man! 😉 ). Plot is not even a bit complicated as compared to the original game. But its a fast paced, action packed and funny (at times) movie. All actors have done their job well. The prince keeps jumping all the time in movie. Camera angles are good enough to give you feel of action. Not much dialogues. Just understand what the dagger is and you are free to ignore all other dialogues.

Overall, it is worth onetime watch (preferably in 3D, but normal is also fine). No parental discretion required 😀 . They bloody don’t kiss till the end (this can’t be called a spoiler, OK?) 😀 .

I am not rating with stars this time. Instead, I say go watch it for fun, but don’t expect much 😉
